Take a Break

There’s a lull between races, hot weather, rain and typhoons… sound to me like a good time to take a break from the bike. Don’t get me wrong, I love to stay fit, but sometimes you can get burned out from the bike. I’m taking 10 days without touching or looking at my bike. I’ll take advantage of this time to do a little cross training to stay fit. One of my favorites is hiking the steep trails of Dakeng. It’s nice I get an upper and lower body workout AND get to spend time with the family!

第一屆武嶺「鐵馬高峰會」自行車賽

2009年至今已比了7場賽事 , 累積了很多保貴的經驗 , 騎車的能力也慢慢的在進步當中 .
這場在6/14的武嶺登山賽是由南投自由車協會辦的比賽 , 是一場難度相當高的比賽 (陡長爬坡 55km , 高海拔 3270m) , 而當天的天氣讓比賽變得更加艱辛 , 連續不斷的雨勢打退了許多人參賽的意願 .
我在賽前的準備就是加強爬坡的能力 , 學習調整呼吸的節奏 . 但是其實還是很不足夠 , 而且我完全沒有騎過這條路線 , 對於地形 , 路況完全不知 , 所以賽前內心十分沒有安全感 .
不過開賽後 , 我騎上車 , 把這一切恐懼都放到腦後 , 心中只有一個目標 , 就是盡全力進終點 !
6/14 武嶺鐵馬高峰會

說來慚愧，我家在埔里但是近兩年來沒有爬過一次武嶺。最後一次爬到山頂是 07 年五月。老實說，我對武嶺一直怕，因為他很難騎 you gotta respect it… a lot. And I always get my ass kicked on/by the climb。但這次的武嶺鐵馬高峰會是埔里二輪館輝哥他們辦的，我自然沒有什麼理由不騎。 Read more…

We received 4th in team standings.

There are many bikes in the market, sometimes is hard to know where to start from. Thankfully, some magazines and websites can try a lot of bicycles and report what works best and what not. For 2009, the website www.bikeradar.com selected Cinelli Willin’ as one of the best 7 bicycles in the market, amongst a total of 37 tested bikes.

I was really looking forward to the Ilan races; first day a fast climb; second day a circuit race with fast rolling terrain, with a not-so-long climb. Perfect courses for me! I had high expectations for myself, especially after a so-so result in Huadong. The first race started fast, even in the neutral! As soon as the neutral ended I pushed hard to move towards the front. Much of the climb was exposed, with the sun baking us on the outside, and the hill cooking us on the inside! Inevitably the pack separated and formed smaller groups. I didn’t like the pace of my group and I forged ahead, a few others joined and kept the pace to the top. I felt strong throughout the race and knew I must have placed top three in my category. It wasn’t until I was called to the podium at the award ceremony that I knew I got first place!

5/22-24 宜蘭週末

這個週末 , 隊上的每個人再度放下工作 , 課業 , 投身在我們熱愛的事情上面 .
星期五下午爸爸開車載我到宜蘭去 , 從台北開車出發到宜蘭礁溪不到1個小時 . 到了飯店時約5點多 , 天色仍明亮 , 我決定先去騎一趟明天比賽的路線 .

昨天晚上在 Velonews.com 看到 Steve Larsen 去世。我今天腦子裡一直揮不去這件事。Steve Larsen 和我同年紀，也是在北加州長大。我不認識他，但小時候在比 junior 賽不時會遇到他。在 80 年代末時他已小有名氣。我記得我們還是 junior 時他就已穿上 Greg LeMond 的 Z 隊衣。很明顯的他的程度比我們高出很多，大家也都認為他以後一定會騎環法。 Read more…

The Cinellis can take ‘em! (both the bikes and the riders, eh!)
As there are a few long climb races ahead, we are focusing on climbing training. This time it was Big Snow mountain 大雪山 that saw the black&red armada go by, in another beautiful day in Taiwan.

騎士協會將花東賽安排在4/25-26 的這個週末 , 對我來說實在是恰到好處 !
因為 4月9-15日 剛好是我的期中考期間 , 而之後有一個書面報告要在4月24日前繳交給教授 , 多多少少都感受到一股壓力在 , 好在 , 花東前我就可以將這些事完成 , 這週末就是和車隊大家聚在一起 , 好好的比賽 ! Read more…

Congratulations to Team Cinelli Ritchey ! First day Inigo placed 5th in E30, and Rick placed 5th in E40. Second day Tim broke away from the main pack and placed 2nd in E30! We garnered enough points to place 11th in Elite team standings. Not bad for only 3 riders in Elite class. Kudos to Ray for placing 15th on the first day in RM20! Getting stronger day by day…..
